Shock filled his system as the complete stranger jumped before him. Where she had come from—or what the hell she was even doing here in the first place—he hadn’t the slightest inkling. But as the crimson warmth splattered against his cheek, all he could do was stare in horror for a moment that felt like a lifetime at the woman that was immediately knocked aside with the force of the hollow blow, and quickly falling to the ground far below them.

     Fire filled his veins, and he leaped forward to catch her by the waist before she could plummet much farther than ten feet. She was losing blood… fast—there was no time to question her motive.
